June is for jesus

The biblical roots of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus can be traced back to the events surrounding Jesus' crucifixion and death. The piercing of Jesus' side with a lance after his death on the cross holds particular significance in relation to the Sacred Heart.

According to the Gospel of John (John 19:34), when Jesus was on the cross, a Roman soldier pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out. This event is seen as symbolic of the outpouring of Jesus' love, mercy, and salvation for humanity.

Early Christian theologians and mystics contemplated this event and recognized it as a profound manifestation of the love of Christ. They understood the blood and water that flowed from Jesus' side as symbols of the Eucharist (representing the Church) and the sacraments (representing the cleansing and nourishing grace of Christ).

Over time, the imagery of the pierced side and the outpouring of blood and water became associated with the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The heart, as a symbol of love and the center of one's being, became closely linked to the sacrificial love and mercy of Christ, which was fully revealed through his crucifixion and death.
