Rosary Club was always about Fatima and the message of Fatima to promote praying the holy rosary. We registered the website domain “Rosary Club” long before we ever hosted a public rosary at Katie’s Ice Cream. Knowing the 100th anniversary of Fatima was approaching and that Catholic laity was being called to the “new evangelization”, prompted this action.
It was prompts like this that had awakened us to move from our home in California to a new home here in Tennessee. One hopes these prompts are the fruits of prayerful discernment and the work of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes you get those “God winks” that affirm the action. There have been many of those over the past 5 years.
We started praying the rosary together daily as a family a few years before we left California. It’s been a great constant in our family life of moving schools and moving to different homes. In the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of hosting dinners (like we did on the 100th anniversary of the miracle of the Sun) as well as the monthly gathering at Katie’s Ice Cream to pray the rosary.
When we returned from Fatima, Portugal in 2020, after opening Katie’s Ice Cream in April of the previous year and initiating the first gathering of Rosary Club on October 13, 2019 we decided to downsize into a home here in Dickson.
We were grateful for that smaller home, being close together as a family and near the family business. It’s still strange to recall that churches closed in March of 2020 and all Masses for the public were eventually shut down. It’s was during this period that a monthly meeting to publicly pray the rosary seemed to be most needed. We saw being normal and together as a great gift during those troubling times.
Recently, we started to look ahead into our event calendar as we considered our oldest son’s graduation from Ave Maria University in May of 2025. Prayerfully considering over the past 6 months how to resolve the conflict of his graduation falling on the second Sunday of the month but also knowing that we are once again facing a move to a new home, we saw the upcoming date for Rosary Club falling on October 13th as a prompt.
It was with faith that we prepared to pray on that first Sunday five years ago not knowing if anyone would join us and it is with faith that we see it is time to pause Rosary Club in its current form. We will host our last Rosary Club gathering on October 13th, 2024.
As we look forward to once again being able to host dinners at our home (we’ve missed having a table that can seat more than 4), we hope that the other groups that now meet to pray the rosary continue and new ones will form. It’s been my family’s great honor to serve you all at Rosary Club and a blessing that cannot be overstated. Thank you!
We gather the 2nd Sunday of each month for Rosary Club.
